Car accident Payout - Personal Injury Firm

OH was in car at time, stationary vehicle.
Car reversed into mine.
haven't gone for Whiplash but seeking damages through personal injury firm.
they have had an engineer report made but he said it is a write off (CAT D). The engineer has said the cars worth £900 and it will cost £600 so has written it off. Will cost £600 minus £200 (so i will have £400 to repair from where ever i want). Its still drive-able etc.
Question is if i agree will my insurance go up as my cars now a CAT D.
Will I have problems when i come eventually to resell.
what happens if i give the insurance company quotes to repair instead of the report?
How likely are the third party to agree?
(there were no witnesses to bump, my car is damaged but other is not even scratched, i do have phone call to third party recorded agreeing it was here fault)
If anything else you need to need mail back.

An insurance write-off for other reasons as the repair costs may be less than the value of the vehicle. It is suitable to repair to make it roadworthy.
Recorded with HPI.

What damages are you seeking?
Your insurance tends to go up for not at fault accidents. You can run some dummy quotes to see how much by. It is difficult to recover this as part of a damages claim, tends to be that you have to issue a small claim to the other party who then pass it onto their insurance company for settlement.
Your car could theoretically lose value because of diminuation after the accident, but realistically it is going to be by almost nothing as
a) Most buyers of a £900 car won't bother with a HPI check.
b) Even if they did, a cat D write off will not affect the value much.
I assume from your post that you are buying the car back from the insurance company, so they are already paying you the full market value of the car prior to the accident minus the salvage value of the car. If this is the case the diminuation is irrelevant, if you think the car was worth more before the accident you need to negotiate with them - their first offer is always a joke. E.g. I was offered £290, we finally settled on £800.
Any damages that aren't "tangible" are difficult to claim for - e.g. after a recent accident the other persons insurance agreed to pay for a hire car, loss of earnings, fuel for the hire car (because my other car was converted to run on free used vegetable oil) and a few other sundries. It came to £1,750 altogether - I think you always lose out a bit after any car accident, but that's life unfortunately.0 -
only claiming for damage to my car.
big question is do i go with the report or get other quotes.
(at least that way the car wont be CAT D and still be repaired)0 -
another questions forgot to ask.
I have REG NO. of car but no insurer details.
how would i go about getting the TP insurer to repair the car.
(Im not even sure if they have admitted liablity or have refuted my line of the story)
My own insurance company have said if you want us to sort the repair out call back (they will claim money of TP they said).
really not sure how to proceed.0 -
