I've always bought from Screwfix and have found their prices hard to beat.
As for the make, it really depends on how much you want to pay and what sort of use you will be putting the tools to. (light DIY, Heavy DIY or professional use).
For home use I've always found Bosch to be fairly reasonably priced and generally fairly robust, and at work we usually have DeWalt. (fairly heavy but well built).0 -
Dewalt Mikita Hitachi Boshe are all decent makes and well known Milwaukee Stihl & Hilti are heavy duty, ryobi black and decker are decent light DIY you really do get what you pay for with tools . (You but a £15 B&Q/Wicks drill you will get £15 worth of drill)etc:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

It really does depend on your budget. I've bought both Bosch entry-level and Bosch Professional range, and the difference in durability is very noticeable.
There are also some good "unknown" makes such as Screwfix's Erbauer, and Wickes "own brand", but recently they seem to have upped their prices to not much below the established brands.
I've bought a few Bosch professional range recently and the best value seems (to me) to be manufacturer refurbs in plain boxes (often called E stock) on eBay.0 -
Would never by a power tool from screwfix without checking the model price elsewhere. From what I have seen power tools are not the cheapest there.0

https://www.power-tools-pro.co.uk have some cheap tools, and I can recommend them, but it depends what you are looking for.
You need to just do some googling.
But don't forget to check if VAT is added or not0 -

If you are only an occasional DIYer, check out Lidl's power tools. They are branded as Parkside. Now before anyone jumps in, I have a pletera of pro tools in the house. Makita/Bosch (blue) and even some old Elu. The parkside SDS drill I boughcost me £35. I chased a whole 2 bedroom flat for a rewire and also chased through concrete for new central heating and it is still rocking on.
For the money, they cannot be beaten, especially with a 3 year warranty.0 -

hi all thanks for the info, i bought a house last year and it will mainly be used for DIY, I was told not to buy cheap and also go for new li-on batteries, 18v too.
saw the Makita 451RF on sale at screwfix £199 maybe that was too expensive for what i need, now its back to £2990
