Regarding the monthly payments...

With First Direct they have to be on the same date each month - your "anniversary date".

With NandP, if i begin my payments today (15th), can i then deposit the next month's payment on 1st April (so calendar month), or does it have to be the 15th of every month?

I have mine set up as a standing order as that is easiest. You will need to check their terms or speak to them, it could be one payment every 30days, one per calendar month or something else.

I'll call them tomorrow if i'm home in time then. Unless anyone else has the answer?

You can bring next months payment forward to the 1st April, I have had a few of their regular savings in the past, it doesn't cause any problem.

I had the same query with Norwich & Peterborough today as they opened my account today. They confirmed that I could deposit the maximum monthly amount of £250 today and a further £250 on 1 November.

Aye that's what i did. Set it up somewhere during the month & made the subsequent payments for the 1st of the month.
