Ok, this post could get a bit lenghty, so bare with me!
My girlfriend and I moved into an apartment block that has a communal Sky Dish. We had Sky installed last November. On Wednesday, we started having problems, "No Satelite Signal Is Being Received" and a crackly picture on most, but not all channels)
I rang Sky on Thursday and went through the usual, "go into the installer menu", "unplug the box for 30 seconds" etc. However, they said there was a problem with the Sky dish and we would need to call the company that fitted it out (as they contract out communal dishes).
I rang the company that fitted the dish, and arranged an appointment for this morning, but the said that if there wasn't a problem with dish we would incur a £40 call out charge. I went ahead with the appointment as I thought what other alternative do I have!!?
The engineer came this morning and connected a different box up and as if by magic we have our full sky package back! So there is a problem with the box not the dish! Hence, we had to pay the £40 callout as its a different company who are responsible for the boxes! He connected our faulty box back up, took the £40 and left.
I then rang Sky back as I want the £40 refunding because it was Sky who wrongly told us there was a problem with the dish. I was given an address to write to:
Sky Subscription Services Ltd
4 Macintosh Road
Kirkton Campus
Livingston
West Lothian
EH54 7BW
Can anyone give me any advise on how to word the letter and has anyone had any luck obtaining a refund for this kind of thing from Sky?
Would appreciate any help people!!

Dear Sirs,
On February xxth I phoned your helpline and described a problem with my Sky reception. Your employee, (name of employee if known), assured me that there was a fault with my communal dish system and that I should get the system installers to rectify the fault. I did this and was charged £40 for the visit by the system engineer who satisfactorily proved, by substitution, that it was actually the Sky Digibox at fault.
I can ill afford the cost of this callout AND the cost of replacing the faulty Digibox so I would really be grateful if you could credit my account to cover my expenses and (x) weeks of lost viewing.
Yours faithfully,

You can contact me on: (your daytime/evening phone numbers).

Will that do? You can copy-paste the text into your word processor.
Do you want them to replace your faulty box or will you get one off eBay?
