I've just received a wireless router (netgear dg834g) from aol as part of their offer. It installed fine to my main computer (that I am not using wireless for, the phone socket is nect to the pc) and I thought I would try and set up my son's PSP as it has wireless built in.
When I go through the set up, the PSP detects the wireless connection, 100% strength etc.. but then fails the test connection part.
I tried to connect without using any security (WEP) but when the PSP goes through the test connection I get an error message, advising that the PSP could not get the IP address as it timed out?
I've also tried using the WEP password that I set up but it still fails the test connection.
Are these two things compatible or am i missing something obvious?
Many thanks for any advise.

first of all, dont use wep as it can be cracked in under a second with the right equipment.
i have a dg834g with wpa-psk and my psp works fine with wpa-psk. you can get a strong password from here
you dont have MAC adress filtering turned on do you? (turn it off by going to wireless setings > setup access list and untick the turn access control on box)0 -
Thanks gaming guy. sorry to be so thick, I can't find the wireless settings to try this, could you be more specific.

you will need to have the username and password to hand (default UN.: admin default password : password)
what do you mean by automatic settings in the psp? (is it the bit where you get to scan for access points?)0 -
