Ciao & DooYoo Reviews

I know, they should warn you that your points will expire, or if they do expire there should be some way of getting them back. I think its terrible to just let them expire and thats it, there is nothing you can do. I am so annoyed, I can't bring myself to write reviews for them anymore as I'm so mad! I had written 49 reviews for nothing

Yes Gill635 that's right, the more people review, the more points you get!0 -
I'll add the rest of you if that's OK ? Please feel free to add me - might be a bit unethical, but maybe if we added each other, then we could rate each others reviews to get our scores up ?
Lizzie, there should definitely be some sort of warning to let you know they are going to expire - its just not fair. I might see what time limit is on them and see if I can diarise something on my computer ?
You could cut your reviews off the site that you have already done, and paste them onto the other site ? Would boost your points quickly without you having to re-write 47 whole reviews!

It isn't unethical to add each other to your circle of friends but be careful how you rate as it could be construed as a clicking cartel - especially if you are giving over inflated rates and continual nominations on the same people's reviews.0

I have started using ciao now, still getting the hang of it but I'm copying and pasting my reviews from dooyoo and have asked them to delete my account. The annoying thing is I actually prefer Dooyoo but I just can't bring myself to write reviews for them anymore as I'm so annoyed. I didn't even know points could expire!
I wrote a review today and just felt so angry at seeing my points at 0, I emailed them explaining how mad I was and asked for my account to be closed, so I'm waiting for that now and I will carry on on Ciao.
Can you tell I'm a little annoyed?!!!
Well it's a word of warning to others, make sure you keep active on the site otherwise you will have wasted your time!0 -
Thanks for the heads up Charlie. I wouldn't over-rate someones reviews, but it would be nice to be able to help people out by getting them reviews if you see what I mean.
I don't blame you one bit Lizzie. I've been a member of both sites for years (no idea why I signed up to them), but I've only just discovered through MSE at Christmas that I could earn money for reviews, so I thought I'd better up my game!
My user name is the same on both sites if anyone wants to add me too

Hi all, I came across this thread when trying to work out how DooYoo works. I've just been inspired to make my first review, would be good to joint the 'circle of friends' too if that's ok. My use name is also the same.Saving for a deposit. £5440 of £11000 saved so far:j0

I would echo this advice - people have come a cropper before joining from MSE and openly saying they were going to rate each other's reviews - it's a grey area.... dooyoo do monitor rating behaviour and overrating, speed rating and plain old what is called "cartel" behaviour are picked up on and people can be removed from the site if it's persistent- you are best off just reading around as much as you can and rating as fairly as you can
As a guide on the site - my advice fwiw is
-write as much opinion as you can , as that's what they are looking for
- read some of the "advice for new members" reviews, some are full of good tips
- read around the site, especially crowned reviews to see what kind of review dooyoo like
It's hard starting out and most people find it a learning curve (my first reviews were dire but it's gone better since) but give it a go - and any guide won't mind you pming them for advice.
Reviews don't need to be long - in fact I hate over padded long for the sake of it reviews but they need to be jammed with the info a consumer would need...
One other thing rewards wise it's much harder to earn points than it once was unless you have lots of top tier items to review or are prepared to flood the site with reviews on items on promotion - my advice is see it as a hobby with a few amazon vouchers as a reward, it can be great fun writing.
Also leguide.com (who own dooyoo) just bought out ciao - so ciao is in what they call "transition" - longer term their reward system may change - who knows - and also maybe you won't be able to put the same review on both sites - you can for now.
Good luck and enjoy - it's always good to see people on the site who want to give writing reviews a go for all the right reasons - I started before going back to work and it was great to get the brain cells going. As a result of my review writing have earned a few pennies and also become an Amazon Vine member so also get free stuff from them to review - but it's a hobby not a job.0 -
Hi
You've poked me into going back and updating all my reviews (you have to update them every 3 months for them to earn points) and I'll try and pick it up again, as a few Amazon vouchers every year came in useful.
I'm on there as tongueoftruth if you want to look or friend me.
Be careful about not being too obvious just doing reciprocal rates for a few people though - it gets you banned. It is basically how it works though, you rate someone and hope they rate you back, but mix it up and it's best to look for what you are interested in.
Also rate more than you post reviews! Otherwise you'll be unpopular and won't get the rates in return. It's best to start off slowly, don't suddenly put on loads and loads of quick reviews, take a good look round, make them as good as you can, and rate lots of others first.
Also when rating don't just click and go, if you aren't on the page for a reasonable amount of time to have read it, you get in trouble.Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0 -
Thanks guys
As I said earlier, although I am happy to rate other MSE'ers, I wouldn't just do it for the sake of it and I wouldn't over rate something.
I would look through the reviews by those first, to see if there was anything on there that interested me, and if so I would rate accordingly.
Thanks for all the advice though
