Ciao & DooYoo Reviews

Hi All

Firstly, apologies if this is in the wrong place - mods please feel free to move it if it is!

I was just wondering if anyone writes reviews on Ciao and DooYoo for money ?

I've only just started, but I'm not sure if I'm getting them right or not. Some advice from other users would be really appreciated!

Also, if anyone on there wants to make friends or a circle (whichever it is), I am more than happy to do this and rate your reviews if this helps ?

Thanks in advance

  • How strange, I just came on here to look for info about dooyoo aswell. I joined yesterday and have only written 3 reviews so far but have saw loads of things I could write reviews about (I love beauty products and buy far too many.) Has anyone rated your reviews yet? I wasn't sure if i was doing it right either, my first two I only got rated somewhat useful and my third is useful so I guess I'm getting better :)

I write quite a lot on DooYoo - though I made a post a few days ago about running out of things to review! (I have reviewed nearly 100 things mind you). I've earnt about £45 from it and am very close to my next £20, when I can find something worth reviewing! I can't speak for Ciao! as I've never used it.

The best thing when you're starting out is to look at previous reviews and see how they're written, and what ratings they got. A review under 250 words will not be well received; if you can't think of anything else to put then think about things like - price, warranty if applicable, where to get it from, longevity, colour options, anything you'd want to know as a consumer. Obviously a large chunk of your review should personal experience and opinion but at the end of the day if you were looking for that item and wanted to know about it, you'd want specifics too.

Personally I don't like splitting my reviews with headers, but some people do so that they make sure they talk about enough stuff. Typical headers are 'Background of the product', 'how I found it', 'what I'd improve', 'value for money?' etc. Take a look in the DooYoo lounge as there are a few topics on there about how to write a good review. Happy DooYooing!

    Thanks guys!

I've been a member for a while, but am only just getting serious about writing reviews.

I did write one about a book I had read a while ago, and it bombed! I didn't want to give too much about the plot and storyline away - which was very easy to do as the book only had 3 characters! and people said I hadn't given them enough to go off and marked me down really badly which knocked my confidence.

I have added 2 more book reviews today, 1 of which I got told I'd given too much away! I kind of feel like I can't win, however, I feel that on todays I have only given away as much as the blurb would do anyway - I've just written it differently, so I have commented back to say just that.

If either of you wishes to friend / circle request me on there, just let me know

I know I said I don't section my reviews out but on books/movies I tend to put a small section entitled 'plot discussion' and say at the top of that that I'm not going to spoil it, but if you don't want to know about the first part of the plot then don't read this bit. That can help sometimes :) but yeah, you can't always win! Feel free to friend me, I'm under the same UN there as on here.

Thanks for that, I have added you on there!

I'm going to have a look over your reviews if you don't mind, just to get a better idea of where I'm going wrong.

    Thanks for the advice!

  • I hadn't even thought about reviewing books yet but that's a good tip about the plot discussion warning. My daughter has just fallen asleep, I may try to do another one now.

Oh, my names the same on dooyoo as it is here too :)

  • I am a member but I got really busy with other things and my points expired, I emailed them to see if there is anything I can do to get them back but I can't. I had about £35 worth of points and its annoyed me so much that I can't get them back, I have told them I want to close my account. I'm sooo annoyed!
I would be interested to know about Ciao though!

    Hi Lizzie

I think they work pretty much the same way, I didn't know the points could expire though! How terrible, that's a lot of work for a lot of nothing you've had to do there - shame on them.

Am I right in thinking you get more points for the more traffic that your review pulls in ?

I've just logged back into dooyoo after a 2 year break...to find I had 1125 of points that expired! It would have been nice if dooyoo had some way of emailing members to let then know their points will expire soon, but then if they do they have the review and don't have to pay out.....
