PPI Claims to Halifax and Barclaycard

Hi all :j....
I would just like a little bit of help or advice please from anyone who has experienced or are going through the same as me at the moment.
I had two credit cards one with Halifax and one with Barclaycard years and years ago. They both defaulted and where eventually passed to a debt recovery agency who I now pay an agreed monthly amount to...one of them even incurred a CCJ!
When I was younger I was in an awful financial situation due to me being an idiot and taking on loads of credit but now I have grown up and am trying to clear my credit report.
I am sure that I had PPI on both of these cards so I sent in my FO complaints form requesting a refund and the reasons why I believe it was mis-sold to me.
I have had a reply from both banks and they have said that they are sorry about what happened etc and that they are looking in to my complaint and I will have an answer from them by 10th April.
Now I would just like to know in your opinion if:
* The 2 banks will find that the original amounts are still unpaid with the debt collection agencies and offer to take any offer they make from these amounts?
* How long will it take for me to get a decision from them? Are either of them known to reply before they say?
* If I do get offered a refund how long will it be until I get the money?
As I have said I am now trying to clear up my past so this money would be a great help to my cause.
Thanks

If you still have unpaid debts from these accounts then any redress for mis-sold PPI will undoubtedly go towards paying those debts.

The banks are allowed 8 weeks from receipt of your complaint to reply to your concerns.
Once offered and accepted redress is normally paid promptly, but there have been some notable exceptions.
This is rather a waiting game, so do have patience.0 -
Thanks moneyineptitude!
I have just been reading through some recent success stories and there was one from yesterday from a lady who claimed back just like me to halifax she posted her letter early feb and got a cheque from them this week...they haven't taken it off her outstanding cards and it was really quick! I hope I get the same haha0 -
I don't understand why you wouldn't want it paying off the debt anyway, so you could get rid and move on?0

Presumably because although in debt it had not defaulted.
You have taken money from them and not given it back.
Don't expect them to be. If they find they owe you money they are unlikely to simply give it to you and then ask you to give them back what you owe them. When I was younger I was in an awful financial situation due to me being an idiotbut now I have grown up
Really? You could have fooled me.0 -
