DMP with CCCS?

I just spoke to two helpful people at the CCCS and went though my out goings which is just over 500 p/m and am left with £137 which they said will be paid to my creditors etc. Does this mean when I get paid I will have £0 in my account? If so I'd be better off paying out the 500+ a month and have the 137 for stuff I might need though out the month.

the budget that you went through with CCCS should cover everything you NEED. They will have asked you to put aside even small amounts for clothing/entertainment/haircuts/travel etc so that the £137 they have said you have 'left over' is ACTUALLY left over and you don't need it to live on. If you're not happy with it you can contact them and ask to up a few areas on your budget if you are desperate for the breathing space, but if they reckon you can give £137 a month to your creditors then do it, your debt will come down much quicker than if you try and reduce it. I have less than 4k in debt but it's going to take me 6 years if my financial situation stays the same, because i can only afford £44 a monthDebt free on 2nd January 2015Next savings goals:£5k emergency fund£4k holiday of a lifetime fund0

Your total outgoings should include things like all the priority bills (mortgage/council tax/gas/water/etc) and also living expenses like groceries, petrol, road tax, etc etc. Whatever is left over then goes to the CCCS to pay your creditors.
Why not post the statement of affairs in this thread and we can see what you'll be paying out and stuff, we might be able to help if an adjustment is neededOur LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568
Oct 2012 = Current debt: £40,548.93

Would be a good idea if you could give a little more info, a level of debt and how long it would take you (estimated) to clear off would be a good idea.0

Ok after speaking to them I looked at my out goings as I didn't realise they would speak tome so in depth about it all. Called them back and I over estimated my money left over after EVERYTHING was paid which left £60 for food and other bits and bobs like the odd piece of clothing etc.
They said they couldn't put me in a DMP as £60 wasn't enough to pay the 9 creditors.
I'll have a go at tackling this myself and see what I can do.0 -

When I submitted mine, with only £99 available to make payments to creditors, it wouldn't accept it online, so after a little work, it was rejigged and submitted with £126 a month available - which worked for me.
I'm sure someone else will come along and give you the help you seek, good luck .0 -
If you post your SOA on here you won't need to tackle it yourself.

I know what you mean. I'm not on a DMP though I did do the business on the CCCS website once. I'm sure it told me I was a hopeless case and they couldn't accept me onto a DMP.
The thing is though, they make you spend money in places where you just don't! As an example in my case £5 for haircuts. I haven't spent £5 on a haircut for at least 10 years why would I start now I'm in debt!??!
Medical - I haven't had a prescription for over 18 months.
Dentistry can be got for a very small fee (£3) if you have a Dental Hospital anywhere near you - if you don't have a problem going to the dentist it's fine and they don't let the dental students loose on you if there was any danger of them doing you any real harm. Tooth pain is one of the worst pains - I'd compare it to burning if not worse, I experienced both and the tooth pain was the only ever time I considered driving my car into a solid wall to be out of the pain (I was on my way to the Dental Hospital about 5am in the morning).
I ended up thinking, well that could go into the emergency fund as it wouldn't be spent each month with so many of the expenses it was evident that what was left for debt payments and what was going into the emergency fund was equal to what I was paying on debts anyway!!
So I just carried on paying my debts and now they are so much more manageable. I even pay more than the minimums every month.
Each to their own though, it works for some people.

Why are CCCS turning people away? Surely they are a creditor funded charity and should not discriminate against you just because you have a low disposable income? Did they discuss their token payment scheme with you? That could have at least bought you some breathing space.
If you have nothing to lose then you should give serious thought to bankruptcy, worst case is that you end up with an IPO for £60 for 3 years, or look at an IVA (if applicable) if you feel, like poosmate, that maybe you can get a little higher, there are lots going through at £100 per month. A DRO may work as well, depending upon the specifics of the situation.0 -

Would suggest they contact the National Debtline to see what other options they may have rather than a DMP.Truth always poses doubts & questions. Only lies are 100% believable, because they don't need to justify reality. - Carlos Ruiz Zafon, The Labyrinth of the Spirits0 -
Incorrect on more than one front. If they like you to pay off your debt in 10 years then the token payments scheme would not exist, nor would hundreds of people on here be posting about 15, 20, 30 year plus DMP's. The courts do not have a preferred timescale either. I would challenge whoever gave you that information to put it in writing as it is factually incorrect. I don't deny that it may seem a laudable aim, a benchmark if you like, but the law is the law and if 10 years were official government policy then BR, IVA's and DRO's would look very different to how they actually are.0
