Does anyone have a Peugeot 107? have a question
Hiya
My Pug 107 is in for a service/mot today. The mechanic has phoned with a few issues (new tyres which I know will need replacing) Ventilation pipes needing bacterial clean
But he's turned round and said I need a new water pump. What he asked was "have I had any issues with leaking water" - the car that is
but I haven't had any sign of this happening, no warning lights, etc. He's said it's essential work, due to bearings rusting, but when my DH had a word, it is essential, but not atm (Eh?)
The car is 4 years old and has 19000 miles on it - bought it new. I know that water pumps can be an issue but alarm bells are ringing at his words.
Anybody else been in this postition? We've told them not to do anything until we get a rundown of everything, but I'm asking because I'm a bit wary about garages so just want my mind putting at rest.
Thankyou kindly.

tyres you can buy elsewhere at cheaper price.
vent pipes bacterial clean? personally i wouldnt see that as an issue other than a money making excersice.
look in your manual book, it will tell you what miles or years the timing belts and tensioners etc need replacing, 19k is not much miles but if it 4 years old maybe on the time scale of a change (they will know this and angle it as essential work).
without looking into the timing cover he wont know the bearings have rusted? i think he means the tensioner, but hey ho.
compare prices against dealers for timing belt and water pump and tensioner replacements, all have different set prices, so if you wish to have it done get a few prices first, they maybe the cheapest or maybe the dearest but you can the tunr around and say xyz pug does the timing kits and pump and fitment for £300.00 plus vat where you are £650.00 come close to that and ill considder you doing it.
my advice buy tyre elses where. look more indepth in you manual about anti bac washdown for the vent? (or do you mean the air con regassing with anti bacterial)0 -
Tyres are going to be bought elsewhere no fear on that one. DH knows a place that is very reasonable
Thanks for a quick reply, we have only told him to do what it's there for, mot and service, nothing else. And give us a quote.
It was just his tone, and the speed of his speech that got me wondering. I think that because the car is mine and I'm a laydee, I think he's trying to bullpoop me, thats why I'm asking.BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.

The water pump is a known weak point on these engines (our Aygo had one under warranty, a friend had one recently on a 107). The design was changed in about 2008.
You can tell if it is leaking as there will be pink antifreeze deposits around the water pump pulley.0 -
what gets me is because he doesnt speak in the way you do and because you are a laydee you think hes trying to rip you
you will probably come back next week with my engines seized why didnt garage advise me i needed a new water pump?
you people are your own worst enemies quite often and although it pains me to say it deserve ripping off because you assume your being ripped off0 -

What makes you think I'll get ripped off? What I said was that he explained the situ differently to me than my DH, so I'm asking a question because I am not engine savvy, and so I don't get ripped off, I find some posts on here extremely helpful....
Unlike yours which I find rather insulting.
If you knew what I went through with a Smart Car I had a few years ago, then you'd say I was right to be wary.
If I had come on here and said "I've been ripped off for parts what comeback do I have?" You would probably come on with "you should have asked here first, blah blah blah"
Can't win with people like you. I hope your pain in saying what you have subsides soon.BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.

this is what im saying
its gone for a service and an mot and the person working on your car has immediately found the bearings in your water pump are shot
you are lucky it hasnt lost all its water and seized your engine as hes tried to explain but obviously your dh whatever that means understands cars better then you do
you imply in your posts you dont trust the person working on your car 3 times
if you dont trust him you shouldnt be asking him to work on your car or asking on here if hes telling the truth
my post stands0 -

Ignore sb,he can barely put a coherent post together most of the time.
You're well within your rights to get a second opinion and find a better quote elsewhere if the work needs doing.Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.

I think my garage guy ripped me off doing my brakes, He drives a big posh BMW so he must be ripping me off. Surely he cant afford a car like that charging fair prices
£100 labour to change all the rear brakes on my car, The whole lot. Pads, Discs, Cables etc..
Eeeh when i did cars i only charged £20 for a similar job, But i had to live on 1/2 a tin of smart price beans and 1 slice of bread.
PS.. I noticed he had a 4 pack of brand label beans and a whole loaf in his office.

Bacterial clean? Wait til ALDI/LIDL?? Sell the tins for £5 was it? And do it yourself.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
