Netbook not charging

Hi all,

I've got an Acer Aspire one ZG5 netbook and it's not charging up. I can use it fine plugged into the mains, but as soon as I unplug it, it turns off straight away.

When I hover over the battery symbol, it says 'fully charged, battery 0%'.

However, when I have the mains lead plugged in, the charging light is only there periodically which concerns me that there may be a connection problem rather than a battery problem.

Before I go splashing out on a new battery, is there any way I can check whether it is a connection problem (which will presumably be more problematic)? Or should I just go ahead and get a new battery?

Thanks in advance

Whilst plugged into mains, remove the battery, then re-insert it. Give it 5mins and wait to see if there's any percentage movement.

Thank you, I'll give that a go tonight.

I've tried this now (twice) and there's no change. I also left it charging for a while and then removed the cable and it switched off immediately again.

To clarify my original post - if I hover over the battery icon it says fully charged, but if I click on the battery icon it tells me it's at 0%.

So what happens when you leave it on battery? It dies?

Yes, as soon as I take it off the charger it is just off. Doesn't shut down, just completely loses power instantly.

Had that with a ZG5. New battery solved that problem.

Thanks guys, I've ordered a new battery. Hopefully that will solve it.
