Price should be based on contract date not switchover?

It will be but given a registration can only be future dated, if the supplier end dates a product or price, its going to automatically use the latest terms if the new product/rate date is between the contract date and supplier start date.

It just needs diligence from the supplier, but do you trust them?

  • Hi
I rarely post but felt this should be known to all members.

I switched from OVO in November last year & had that nagging feeling off & on, that I hadn't had the final you owe us or we owe you letter.

Anyway I checked up on it today & after trawling through my emails found that they owed me £127.50!

I phoned them & they confirmed they would refund it to me but stated that it was not company policy to issue an automatic refund & that the customer has to specifically request it!

I'm guessing if I owed them money it would be company policy to take it from me without me confirming they could!

Anyway be warned when switching & make sure you get any refund due!;)

This thread is almost 4 months old.

When I left Ovo about a year ago they sent me final bill quite quickly (well 6-7 weeks after the switch took place) ... and the refund arrived shortly thereafter.

Of cousre they have to refund any accrued credit - it's not their money to hodl onto ... and where they do hold customers money (e.g. accrued credit during summer months) they pay quite agood interest rate ... tax free

They warned the refund process took 8-10 working days (from issue of final statement). What I did note was it took the whole 10 working days and the refund was then received on that day by faster payment credit (so it might take a few extra days if your bank doesn't accept faster payments ... but all the major ones do nowadays)
  • To be fair this isn't the first time I've read about having to request a refund once you have left the company. Do they continue to pay the interest on credits even when no longer a customer, I wonder?
