Clydesdale bank- cancelling signature account?

Hi everyone.

Wondering if someone can give me some advice. I have a signature account I pay £12 a month for. I don't need or use any of the insurances and want to cancel. I called the 24 call centre and they advised id need to go into branch. I went into branch yesterday an the woman behind the counter told me that to cancel I need to sit down with a banking advisor (presumably to talk me out of cancelling or sell more products.) I don't have time for this appointment I need it calm elled. Have a 3 month old baby who would not sit for long during an appointment. Surely there must be another way?

There feeding you crap to try and talk you out of canceling a paid current account. There trying to stretch the time out with the hope you just think forget it, i'll just keep it.

Be firm, at the end of the day, they want YOUR money in THEIR bank. Just say you want to cancel the paid account now, or you'll switch to a bank that will offer me better sevice.

In January, I walked into my Clydesdale branch wanting to close my account and withdraw all my money. After getting treated like crap by the clerk, they done what I wanted.

So if they can close my account and give me my money on the spot, there clearly giving you the run around.

I have the same account and would like to cancel it, as I don't really need any of the "benefits" it offers. I now pay £13.50 a month, and the only thing I am glad to have from it is the car breakdown cover, which I could probably get cheaper somewhere else. I asked if I could cancel it and was told I'd need to re-apply for a current account, so yes, thinking that might cause more problems I decided to 'forget it', so I still have it and I don't want it! I already had a 'current account' so why do I need to reapply?

I've just had a quick look (you may wish to spend longer) at the T&Cs and can't see such a condition.

Ask them again...this time in writing.

Switch to the Coop? They will pay you £100 for it if your account has 2 SOs or DDs, and you don't need to pay a monthly fee.
