I read your post in there you mentioned they did a cambelt change a year ago prior to them replacing the cambelt did your car have a similar problem already before they did it or did they make it worse .
Apart from the waterpump they replaced they did other aswell you mentioned what was it ?
I had the cambelt changed as routine in July; there was no "reason" for it to be changed - and no other issues with driveability, timing, performance before I had it done. The job included a tensioner and auxiliary belt. (£250.00)
I then had the water pump done in December (although now am told that it is usual practice to do the water pump at the same time as a cambelt change...?)- together with fan pulley and fan mounting - also an auxiliary belt (?). It took nearly two weeks to diagnose that problem, cost £476.00 - and I was still "left" with the problems that I am currently trying to get sorted.....

Ask the garage to check the timing is right . I believe this what they will have to do slip of the cover and turn the crank so the marker lines up on the bottom cover / pulley choking the camshaft lines up .
If they did your fuel filter ask them did they fill it with diesel or just put it on dry . I'm sure they know this but check if not done properly will cause problem.0 -
Damn made a spelling mistake in the above post .
What I meant was checking the camshaft lines up not choking . Arrrgghh .0 -
It would have been way cheaper to obtain another engine off eBay and have your mechanics do a swap. Paying a potential £1400 to repair an engine when the car is worth £2500 is a bad option.Never Knowingly Understood.
