Hi guys
sure this might have been posted before but just need little advice
just before the new yea ri listed a nintendo wii with games on ebay, hadnt played it so though id sell it.
some one bought it, payed via paypal, then collected it. greta no problems
early the next day paypal took the payment back out my paypal account saying it come from a fraudlunt account and that i should have checked the account before hand. the ebayer turned out to have tried to ripp others off as well.
paypal said cant be covered by their seller protection act, that I shoul dhave checked the account, but isnt that there job? vierfiing accounts and addresses?
so ive lost out on the payment and the price of the wii
all emails to paypal have just resulted in automatid responses
been advised to send em a letter via recorded delivery, then if no answer small claims
any ideas?
cheers

I think there are others on here with more knowledge about this than me but to start with (if they are in bed) check the name of the buyer against the address that you sent it to (see 192.com). If they are the same and he's claiming that someone has hijacked his account, stolen his details etc then this should give you some grounds with paypal. Anyone else....You can't go wrong with carpet bombing...0

and why did you accept paypal for a home collection? You should have checked with us on here first, for home collections cash is the only option you should take for obvious reasons.0

I've posted a link here which includes excellent advice on how to protect yourself when using paypal. Rule no. 1: read the terms and conditions.
