  • The other (possibly unpleasant) thought is that the fraudster may well turn out to be a family member. You may or may not want to go there.

    At the very least it would appear to be a connected party. Who had access to the email account of the OP. As there would have been communication sent by post and email.

    Any betting return would also be credited back to the same card. So unlikely that a 3rd party would bother. As what would be the point.

    The money gets "Innocently" transferred to a betfair account associated to the fraudster
