Travelling from Milton Keynes to Central London.....

Hi all!
I am travelling to London with my husband and two friends on 23 March to visit Madame Tussauds, and we really don't know the cheapest way to travel there from Milton Keynes.
My husband has a company car which he doesn't pay for fuel with, so driving there is an option, but then we will have to find somewhere to park when we get there. We also plan on doing a bit of sightseeing while we're there but don't want to be driving around central London all day.
My Mum works in Amersham which is on the Tube line, and has offered us to drive there and park at her office FOC but I have no idea how much a travelcard for all zones will be as Amersham is in Zone 9, I believe.
Alternatively, we could get the train direct to Euston from Milton Keynes then get a tube ticket to do our sightseeing but I imagine this would prove quite expensive.
Please help!
Thanks,
Megan
