Endless calls from MBNA.....

Options
A few months ago we received about 7 calls in one week from MBNA. Thinking it might be important (yeah, right, we have ONE credit card with just £20 a month on it) I arranged for them to call at specific times when my husband was in as the card is in his name. You guessed it - they called again when he was at work. Finally Hubby spoke to them and it turns out they just wanted to offer him another (totally unwanted) credit card. He told them a firm 'no' and asked them not to call again...........now this week the calls have started again and I've told the caller that we're with the telephone preference service and not to bother us again, but the MBNA chap got quite shirty and said that my husband needs to call THEM to stop these unwanted calls. I'm furious at his attitude - what can I do?

I just ask them to hold on, put the telephone on the side and go off and carry on with whatever I was doing before they 'phoned. It has so far proved the most effective way of stopping these callers.

Yep, I do the same. Not only do you get to carry on with what you were doing but you can chuckle at the knowledge that they are paying for the privilege! There was a thread on this board about what people do with unwanted calls when you've asked them not to call - very funny.

Another good method is to give the phone to toddler or young child who will chat happily to them for ages!
