GMAC Car finance plus GAP policy.

Hello,

I am very confused with the PPI claim process,

I had car finance Via GMAC in 2003 after buying a Vauxhall,but i also had a GAP policy added into this as i was told i wouldnt get the finance if i didnt take this out,
But can i claim this back and how,is it a long winded process?

Any help on this matter would be great.

GAP insurance is different to PPI. I can understand a lender requiring it because if your car is stolen or destroyed you will only get the value immediately before the incident from your insurer - which may be less than the outstanding loan.

I am 43 months in on a 60 month car finanace agreement. I too was sold a GAP policy for £299.00 at the time the agreement was signed, this was for 3 years (36 months), so this has now expired. I did not realise the term for the GAP was only 3 years, I assumed it would cover for the full 60 months of the loan term. The payment for the GAP was lumped into my finance agreement. Is there any way I can claim this GAP policy fee back? Any help appreciated, thanks.
