EDF - No bills for a year

EDF online saver 8
I got the letter that my deal comes to an end at the end of March. I will be transferred to the standard tarrif
When I signed up to it I forgot all about it and got on with more important things.
So prompted to go online and look at the state of play. I find that I have not paid a thing for the last 12 months. No emails, letters, bills, etc. A zero balance shows online and no account information.
I rang and they were bemused. I now have to pay it off over the next 12 months as well as next years bills.
Plus The Standard tarriff is 32% more than I have been paying for electricity and about 15% more for gas. A triple whammy
Great

Hi There,
Read my thread EDF Huge bill system error, we have had something similar and we now have to pay off the bill over the next two years, fortunately we have got 25% off for there mistake for not sending us a bill for over a year. We were paying regularly towards the account but then our bill suddenly ended up saying we were 58.00 in credit all the time. Any way read my thread and you will get the gist of it.
Cheers Nigel0 -
If they don't ensure you change over yo standard rate on a firm reading, you could have your cheaper usage squeezed into the next year and pay more.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0

But you don't have to be transferred to Standard tariff. Just switch to one of their cheaper tariffs via My Account after 31/3.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Hi
My mum has just received a bill fo £1300 from EDF When I queried it they stated that it was due to a computer change over their end that she has never been sent a bill for over 2 years. They are now looking into it and will come back to me nex week What I am interested in is what sort of deal I should be pushing for Any help would be good Thanks0 -

What payment arrangement was your mum on? How much and how often had your mum paid in 2 years?0 -
You should pay the previous 12 month's usage on the cheap tariff, and the next 12 on whatever tariff you choose to be on. Take a reading now to make sure the units end up in the right tariff. Don't sit on the standard tariff because "standard" actually means "most expensive"
Lastly, dispute any charges going back more than 12 months. Provided you gave all the correct information when you signed up, it is their fault for not billing you and back-billing should be limited to 12 months.0 -

Its possible that when hey transferred to the new system, her account was never moved over or end up in a broken state hence could not bill.
In systems migrations they data cleanse problems on the old system to allow smooth transfer. Any customers that are still broke in the old system after the senior managements deadline, can end up dumped in any old state by project managers/consultants chasing their pay.
So, if eyes have never been able o produce a bill in 2 years, they can't back bill you more than 12 months per Ofgems back billing rules. If you had been getting billed but incorrectly, the back billing code entered into by suppliers would prevent back billing past 12 months providing you have not hidden info or failed to comply with their requests for info.
If this has come from migration to SAP, they cannot bill you beyond 12 months, you should raise a complaint and get any compensation + cheapest deal you can get out of them. They should also offer a payment plan over 12 months if needed.
There is no excuse for this from a system migration to go on 2 years. Its just poor management controls in transferring data.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
I have got a similar situation going on with me in that EDF have not sent me an updated bill since the end of Dec 2011.
But confusingly, I have had direct debits winging there way out of my account willy nilly without any notice, particually the last week, one for £86.00 on 1st May, then one on the 3rd May for £85.00, then on the 8th May £75, all these with NO notice, and described as being all in my installment plan! Grrrr!
Before the last payment I made of £75 by direct debit, I paid a £47.79 debit card payment that brought my account too £0, so when the £75 went out, I thought my account would be £75.00 in CR. But NO, unbelievably, my account is in £265 ARREARS!
I have a letter from EDF last week telling me my account is clear after complaining, and after my direct debits my account would be in credit by £85! Make sense of that!
It's just ridiculous how they are dealing with account information with me and other customers, they should not be in business at all!0 -

There was another thread just like this.
It sounds like EDF have some system issues with taking multiple DD's...:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Too update, my £256 arrears has now turned into £588 arrears occording too Tom Weeks @ EDF.
I have been told from Aug 2011 since joining EDF to today May 11th, I have been billed a total of £855.35.
I have paid since Aug 11, to now, a total of: £1010.35 in direct debits and debit card payments, work that out!
They are still insisting I owe over £500, it's just pure madness!0
