Being made redundant and confused...

Options
I'm now in a consultation process (with other members of staff) in which we've been given until Saturday of this week (from Monday) to decide if we want Voluntary Redundancy.

The roles within the business are not being removed, but they're being cut back - for example a 40hr contract may become a 25hr contract (in my case).

As yet no official figures have been given to us.

My question is: if I decide NOT to take voluntary redundancy and they offer me a contract (next week) in the same role but at considerable less hours - will I be able to refuse it and in effect continue to be made redundant?

I'm just concerned I'll be stuck in a job that in no way would pay the bills (and then still possibly be made redundant in the near future).

Thank you

Yes, probably, as a siognificant cut in hours would render the post unsuitable alternative employment. However if your employer disagrees you would have to go to an Employment Tribunal to get your money, which could take several months.
