Apparently if you soak nuts for 12 hours it reduces the amount of bad fat in them.Seen this on the Telly programme"Spa of embrassing illnesses" Although as soon as I get a bag of peanuts I want to scoff them not let them have a soak for 12 hours while I hunt the chocolate out!

Probably not much help but OP said they liked nuts!

Go to the community forums at weightwatchers for load of ideas. https://www.weightwatchers.co.uk/community/mbd/index.aspx

But really you can adapt many "normal" recipes to core - and things like chilli, bolognaise, shepherds pie, curry, roasts, kebabs etc can all be made so that they are core, using max 2 tsp oil per person per recipe.

Even chips can be core - chop the potato as you would normally do, put in a poly bag, add a little oil (half to 1 tsp per person usually suffices), scrunch the oil around, put into a baking tray and bake till cooked - I usually allow about 40 minutes or so. (Roast potatos can be done in the same way) It is helpful to turn them about half way through. I have fish and chips regularly on core. Its great!

I am having the same problem. I'm following Weightwatchers Core Plan but quite a few of the weightwatchers recipes have expensive ingredients. Anybody got any budget seasonal recipes I could follow.

I use soya mince rather than quorn mince - for one I prefer it and it is also massively cheaper. It is also free on core.

Rachel, you could also try going to oldchem's site, https://www.oldchem.piczo.com - its a bit naff to look at, but she has loads of core or NC recipes on there

if there'sa problem getting good cheap vegs for soup, I'd siggest stocking up on lots of dried and tinned beans and pulses, you can even get aduki beans frozen. there are endless variations of what you can do with them, they are mega healthy, very filling, and cheap too.
    lunches
    - humous, chick pea curry, lentil dahl, make burgers from red kidney beans, aduki bean pie or stew ( it's called Red Dragon pie?), butter bean bakes, ....
get a soup mix with pearl barley and add to veg soup to eke it out and make it more filling.

    breakfasts:
I'd recommend having real oats not highly processed porridge in a packet. I simmer my porridge with ripe banana, seeds, and lots of cinnamon ( it's tasty and good for blood sugar) then it doesn't need sweetening. very nice with big serving of good natural yog.

good luck with it all !
most of all, keep it sensible and healthy.

size 12 on good days sounds pretty slim to me, have you checked your BMI?
    regards

I joined SW Jan 06 and lost 4st by Sept.............

I loved the 'eat as much as you like' ethos and found sticking to 'free food' was easy after a while. Most people find it a complicated system at first but the 'penny drops' very quickly. I was very cynical to begin with as there is very little or no weighing depending on what you eat.

Buckets of veggie soup was the answer for me, with pulses and spiced up with curry, chilli, pepper etc.... baked potatoes with beans or cottage cheese........... loads of veggie stir fry (no oil if you get the temperature right)............. tuna, white fish and chicken too

Very quickly I found that by not buying anything processed, my 'munchies' disappeared (I've read that eating sugar makes you crave more even more quickly) and the grocery bills reduced drastically.

There was a member in our group who had lost over 8st and when ever she came back from her hols she would always have put on 7 - 12lbs.... wouldn't we all? Every time she just got 'back on track' and lost it again....

We all know there is no secret........ it is just doing it..... isn't it? ;)

remember if you over eat on healthy foods you can still put on weight, yo never want to feel stuffed only satisfied.

like the previous poster said, pulses lentils adn bean are cheap and quick to cook provided you soak most of em over night, aome lentils dont need soaking. eeat more oily fish and calcium(eggs, cottage cheese, low fat plain yoghurt)

veg can be very intersting roasted pepears with rice in em, aubergines in a tomato sauce. good luck

    Portion caution!!

I have been doing this for sometime and believe it or not! the weight is coming off. Too many people load up their plates with too much food when watching portion sizes maybe all that is necessary.

Of course, the crisps and biccies have gone from the cupboard and I am now eating more healthily than before but without the need to invest in SW and other dieting plans. Ask around among your friends - someone is sure to have the SW books if you want them. and the library will have cook books etc to look at, - not to mention the internet.
Taking your time while you eat too, as this will tell your body when you have had enough to eat and one of the girls in the office swears by Paul McKenna!! and his methods!!

    Here's to a lighter you!!
Expect the worst, hope for the best, and take what comes!!:o

Eat of a smaller plate, preferably a dark one.

Your body is tricked into thinking you've eaten more than you have. And lots of water

    Good luck!
