GE money PPI

I have just tried to claim my ppi which is attached to my GE money mortgage. Ive just had a reply to say that the payment of insurance was optional so i do not have a case and i am not entitled to anything. I was told over the phone that i would have to take out the insurance as they would not give me the mortgage without it so obvioulsy i took it. Do you think this is worth taking any further with the Ombudsman. Ta

    Hi and welcome

I would be asking for a copy of the phone calls for your proof, depending on how long it was really, but hopefully they may still hold records of these.
They should confirm on the final letter if your able to complain to the FOS yet or not, but if not write back and ask them to reconsider and give any further info you may have, and that you do not agree, and you would like them to provide you with the evidence of why they rejected your complaint and to send you a copy of the phone recordings.

    Good luck.

GE money's mortgage PPI was monthly ppi, and I assume its post 2005 as you mention FOS, which means it show as optional on your documents (see section 9 of KFI and mortgage offer)

What evidence do you have that you were told you had to have it? If they have a load of documents which state its "optional" then your arguement just looks like you have made it up.

Have they not provided enclosed documents?
