There will be a fight between the Canon Pixmas and the Epson Rxxx

Canon Pixma IP4300 for around £65

The Epson R360 for a little more (the R300 was the standard decent one but I believe it is discontinued.

Personally I have a Canon Pixma IP5000 and I think it is fantastic.
It takes 5 individual Ink tanks but I can get a complete set of 5 for just £4-97. the kids can print to their hearts content at those prices (and do just that!!). I print all the DVD's with covers.

Canon wised up to the ink issue and all the models with a second digit instead of a 0 (IP4200, IP4300, etc) have chipped cartridges.

Im my opinion (If mine broke) I would go to Ebay and look for the Canon Outlet and get another IP5000 (or IP8000).
    I cannot recommend them enough.
I had HP printers for years but hardly used them due to the cost of inks.

The Epsons too, are very popular and will print to CD's too.
  • Agreed i also have a pixma 5000 used for well over a year and the print quality is excellent on disc media.:j
    Thanks

    Ben
  • I bought an Epson R265 a few months back for 70 quid, and i've found it really easy to use, and quite economical on ink, which is very important!

Available for £53 now on Amazon. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B000HVC0BO/ref=dp_olp_2/203-4192135-9375927
  • Might be worth giving Boots head office a ring to check your local stores because they were doing an Epson R200 for £25.99 in large stores as end of range and its a good printer for what you need.
    Comes with full cartidges too.
Always looking for a bargain and to help
  • cheers for this....i've been looking for the boots deal printer....no joy in york that I could find...

its fatal this....i've hit the canon web site & seen the ip5200R with wireless....really tickling my fancy....

now all I need is to find a super discount code!!

    thanks
  • The Boots deal isnt on their site as its end of line so you have to ring the head office

Just wondering where you buy your printer inks please? I have the same printer and I've always bought canon original cartridges (just over £5 each) as the first set of compatibles I bought didn't work very well at all. I'm doing more printing now and would like a recommendation for compatibles if possible please

I just noticed this question, sorry for dragging the post up again:

    http://aprmedia.com/c_printing_canon_inks_more.php?printer=iP5000

£3.28 for a set of four inks
£0.82 or 96p for the black one

Jettecs are something else I have used too which are okay.
