Tsunami affected areas

I would like a holiday in Bali in late July, but the airfares are prohibitive then.
The other alternative is Thailand, and it struck me that to go to a resort or area affected by the tsunami may be welcomed by the locals who are in need of the business. Is there any area which is still to be avoided, and has anyone got any advice please. I prefer a quiet place, with as little nightlife as possible, but nice local restaurants etc. NO DISCOS!

doublekite, a fantastic idea, some places are still reeling from the lack of tourism. The weather is not ideal on the west coast of Thailand, but you'll still have an ok time. I'm pm'd you my favourite place in the whole wide world, which is so wonderful i'm not telling everyone! It's fits your description!
