Hi Guys, I know you are probably sick to the back teeth of repeating yourselves on here but I would really appreciate some advice. I have received a letter advising he CP Plus are acting on behalf of the roadchef service station and I have basically exceeded a maximum stay by having parked for 5 hours. I have read the forums and previous threads re ignoring the letters and that have to take you to small claims if they want the money out of you. The only thing that worries me is that have attached photos of my car on the charge notice. Do you think it is likely I would end up in court if I ignore these letters? If I do chance it could I end up with an even heftier charge ?. I think worried about leaving it live on my own so paying the mortgage is the priority at the min not wasting money on silly chancers out to make a quick buck, but if I have to pay then I have to pay its all swings and round-a-bouts!
thanks in advance for any advice you can offer

hi nicnac20
i am new too but the advice is ignore, ignore, ignore and then ignore again
the letters you get are meant to scare you and look official but the private companies operating for roadchef have no enforcement rights, only local councils and the police have that right by law0 -
Is it a free car-park?
By being parked there do you think that charge is a fair estimate of the losses the landowner suffered by parking for longer than they say you can?
Most likely, it's a free car-park, and free car-parks don't turn into car-parks which cost £50+ if you overstay an hour or so. Ignore CP Plus and their threat-o-grams0 -
Ignore CP Plus, they a just a bunch of scamming parasites.
In the past I have ignored more than one attempt by them to steal my hard earned.
Following my advice a friend is also doing the same.
It's pleasing to note that by ignoring them we are actually costing these crooks money.0 -
They always have photos but this means absolutely nothing since the photos are backing up a non-existent claim. Take a couple of pictures of your neighbours car and then tell him he owes you £50. What is he likely to reply? Yet that is what CP Plus are trying to con you with.
They will do nothing, because nothing is all they can do. If you never speak to them, they will have no means of knowing who the driver was and you don't have to tell them. And it would only be the driver they could sue even in the million to one chance they felt like trying.
The "newbie" is telling it right, stop worrying and start ignoring!0 -
You will receive 3 begging letters off cp plus, and 3 begging letters off Debt Recovery Plus, IGNORE all! they have NO legal power to make you pay any money to them, they will back off and try some other sucker that hasent discovered this forum yet and will be terrified and pay them cash.PPCs say its carpark management, BPA say its raising standards..... we all know its just about raking in the revenue. :eek:0

They have photos of your car? They might sue your car!!
Relax, photos mean nothing whatsoever. Its the driver they need, and even then they still don't have a case.Je Suis Cecil.0 -

You do NOT 'have to pay' a scam like this. Please don't!
As for a ticket with a pretty picture of a car on it, try watching the Watchdog youtube clip lined in the top 'sticky' (permanent info) thread on here, called 'PPC letters & threats'. The Watchdog solicitor is holding a fake PCN like yours, with a nice car picture on it too...watch and learn!
See my signature for how to click back one step to see the forum index again; the sticky thread is at the top. It has all the letters for you as a pictorial preview as well!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Wow overwhelmed by the amount of help, advise and support everyone thank you all so much! It is so comforting to know that some genuine people out there, my trust in human nature is well and truly restored after your all your help. I can not believe the little scamsters get away with these scare tactics and make a living by it and by the amount of posts about other companies operating in the same manner. Its unbelievably that some people have chosen to make a living out of folks good nature. Anyway enough ranting that dont deserve anymore of my time nor energy. Again thank you to you, you wonderful people!
PS: love the comment from Give them FA : take a picture of your neighbours car and try and charge them lol that would actually be quite funny but just makes you think about how crazy all this is0
