    To be honest I think phone calls are not a standard part of the procedure for the reason that they don't often have your phone number.

    The Debt recovery companies pay BT to have access to an exhaustive list of phone numbers (which now includes mobile numbers) and also includes Ex directory numbers.

    The phone calls are not part of standard practise wherever phone numbers are available.

    You can of course request that under the Data Protection act the information on their records is updated and that your phone number is removed as a postal address is adequate to contact you with their business.

    Interesting. Under what provision of the Data Protection Act do BT 'hide' when giving out Ex-Dir and mobile numbers to these leeches?

    Maybe they'll be slightly less stubborn than the good old DVLA if challenged on this?
