You did? Well done! :T

However, there is nothing preventing you from still switching to the cheaper supplier ... and they will then have to return any remaining credit on the account to you.

Hence why I am so surprised they simply applied £100 credit to your account.

But if there is a cheaper supplier available to you, please do switch

Pretty much any of the other companies will offer a cheaper bill than BG for gas only, and depending on usage the saving could be substantial. Why do you think they were so happy to give you £100, basically saying "don't leave, pay more to us", what happens if you do this in another 3 months time, I doubt they'll keep lobbing £100 at customers to stay. Bear in mind, is this an immediate cr to your gas acc with BG, or is it an after 12 months deal, if the £100 after 12m, you have to ensure you are in cr for the whole of the year to qualify for the £100.
