Speeding Ticket but we dont know whose?

Could anyone please advise?

My husband just told me he has received a speeding ticket at work today for his company car which we both drive. The problem is it is for Sunday the 11th December and neither of us can remember what we were doing that day. The offence was in a nearby town so I dont dispute the offence. I am a careful driver and know that this camera is in a 40mph zone.

I blame him, he blames me. Marital harmony. Not. And you dont call me Mrs Huhne.

Does anyone know if you can get a photo of the offence so we can try and see who was driving? Also a friend said she thinks they should have served the ticket within 2 weeks.

Any advice or comments would be gratefully received.

The first nip should go to the registered keeper within 14 days. Write and request photos to ID the driver but remember he has 28 days to respond or if faces 6 points and a fine of around £500.

The letter should contain details of how you can log in and see the picture caught by the camera. Though I looked at one for a friend this week and it was impossible to work out who was driving.

Is it a lease car? If so the NIP will go directly to them and they then forward it to the hirer so i probably wouldn try to get off it by using that excuse.

OP stated it was a company car.

Yes it is leased to himselfs company so that might explain the delay. But trying to remember who went out in the car 3 months ago is beyond me!
Am cross because i have never had points or a speeding fine and honestly do always try to obey speed limit. Unfortunately this argument isnt working with husband ha ha.

Do you have any receipts or creditcard bills, phone records? This is the sort of steps he must go to, to avoid a fail to provide details charge.

I have checked the bank and credit card statements to see if either of us was out xmas shopping, but there was no transactions that day. It was 46 mph in a 40 zone so I may just take the hit and moooove on. (Through gritted teeth)

46 in a 40 you should be offered the Speed Awareness Course, that is you pay about £90 to sit in a classroom and be lectured to about speeding and the consequences of it, if you do get the sac then you wont get points

You are very right. Have just spent the day practising child resuscitation techniques at work. So time for some perspective.
