My Microsfoft package has expired and I can't edit or print any of my CV's or Cover Letters.
Also I have a job application to complete which is in PDF format and it says to continue on seperate pages if I need to ( which I do ) but don't know how to do this without a word processing package.
Please help.... using easy instructions please...bit of a techy dodo here:o
Thanks

You can't edit or write on PDF's unless you have Adobe Professional, which I doubt you would have from what you say.
Why don't you use one of the free Office packages available, such OpenOffice, LibreOffice or Google Docs0 -

http://www.primopdf.com/ any good?
Adobe Reader is slow as molasses, insecure and runs annoying helper app at startup
Better to use SumatraPDF, Foxit Reader or PDF-XChange Viewer0 -
Hi m5rcc
thanks for you quick response!
When I phoned the company about the job app, she said to complete it from their company ( local authority) website and to use extra pages if needed... so I just assumed I would be able to do that using Word, until I found it had expired
I have got Adobe Acrobat if that helps?
I had seen OpenOffice on a google search but wasn't sure if it was 'safe' ( I've just had to deal with a virus so I'm a bit wary)0 -

Adobe Acrobat allows you to edit PDFs but writing them is kinda impractical. it's mainly for edits. Use any of the free Office suites I have mentioned or if you have Word Pad on your computer, you could use that too.0 -
Thanks custardy and thanks again m5rcc, I'm going to try OpenOffice0

http://www.pdfescape.com/ is an online PDF editor.
PDF forms are one thing, in which case Acrobat or any reader will allow you to enter the fields that have been correctly defined in the form. PDFs that happen to be forms but havent been set up as such are much more clumsy for completion even if you do have Acrobat Professional as PDFs are supposed to be the end format and non-edited. If you want to edit you are supposed to go back to the source document.0 -
Thanks InsideInsurance
So do I need to download pdfescape as well as OpenOffice?
Also, I've just checked the PDF document properties and found this, if it helps? -:
Application Adobe InDesign CS3 (5.0)
PDF Procedure Adobe PDF Library 8.0
PDF Version 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x)0 -
PDFEscape is an online tool, you upload the PDF, do what you want to it there and download the revised version. It is good enough for writing text or adding a picture etc but not for major revisions.
The properties just says what was used to make it. As has been said, PDF, excluding PDF Forms, are designed as the end non-editable distributed format but will always have another application in which they were generated, in this case InDesign which is a vector based page layout application.0 -
I've downloaded PDFEscape and I've opened the PDF ( job app ) that I need to complete, it's letting me fill in the fields but I can't find any way of adding additional information ...
I need to insert some more pages to cover for employment history...0
