in the past i have had to spend around £50 on stamps, printing costs (i print at university for 5p a page as i dont have a printer), stationary and travel in order to find a job.
i wont be eligible for job seekers benefit (partner earns too much) but would i be able to use jobecentre resources? i know there is jobcentre plus which lets you look for jobs but i have heard that people can get free stamps and stationary to send off application forms, is this true? can anyone use this service? I know that finding a job can cost thousands in terms of new suits (what student has a suit??) travel etc. etc. but a little help towards things like stamps would be a godsend
Go to Bon Marche and buy a suit there. Or the charity shops.
Or you could get a small cleaning job on a morning so that you can get some money together.0 -

Hi
Depending on where you live, there may be some Organisations who are LSC (Learning Skills Council) or ESF (European Social Fund) funded. These would be able to offer Jobsearch support, free of charge, to anyone 16-65, whether on benefits or not. These often include help with postage, stationery and internet use.
These organisations are normally found in the 'disadvantaged' neighbourhoods where need is perceived to be the greatest. They are also often Electoral Ward or Postcode Specific to who they can help as the funding is specifically targetted.
Check out your local library who may have a list of these local organisations.

i do not spend £50 on stamps but it must be acknowledged that it does cost money to find a job and it is fair enough to use an organisation that is designed to help people find jobs, to help find me a job.a few stamps might not be much to most people but every little helps and its not free money (typical misreading) its a little helping hand.
£50 was a figure pulled out of a hat as i dont think it actually costs over £1000.
"Leaving university and finding a job costs the average graduate £1,185, new research finds."

And how much do you think it costs for someone changing their career after 24 years? With degrees - plural
Or someone made redundant?
Or a woman going back to work after staying at home with her children?
With or without degrees it makes no difference.
The premise is exactly the same.
You have a working husband, you have access to money
I think your imminent degree has gone to your head.0 -
Or you could always go to Asda or Tesco and buy a suit from £20.0

Hi you would have had to have been unemployed for over 6mths to get the £100 a yr entitlement its called advisory discretionary fund. (ADF). You will not get stamps, photocopying, services from the jobcentre.
Even if you are credits only (receiving no benefits) you could still be entitled to Travel to Interview Scheme. As long as the interview is over an hour away. This is paid either by a travel warrant if you are using rail, or you can take your own car and they will pay you mileage. (door to door) I forget how much the mileage is.
You can also use the jobcentres phones for any phone calls you need to make to an employer even mobiles.0
