permanent double vision, and 10% vision in one eye isn't counted as a disability, but a kid with ADHD does? Quel surprise!

    Didn't take you long ..

Tell you what, why don't you speak to DLA and if your other half has mobility and or care needs then perhaps...

But spouting off about things you might not know about is just bad sport and childish.

My OH was starved of oxygen at birth, and ended up with one eye only having very, very limited sight in it. When he closes his good eye, he can hardly see anything. He's hard permanent double vision since birth.

He had an operation at 5 to try and correct the double vision, and another at 30 for the same thing.

Would he be classed as having a disability and what would he possibly be allowed to claim?

Your OH came off lightly then... my husband had the same thing happen to him but he has Cerebral Palsy as a result!

Sorry if your offended by this but if he was entitled to anything he would have known years ago!

Just thought I'd ask, after reading some of the things people on here claim for.

He never mentions his eye at all, he just gets on with it and works.
When your life is a mess, stop and think what you are doing before bringing more kids into it, it's not fair on them.

Put a patch over one eye, and tell me if you can still work? Of course you can...... Anyone can with one eye!

Then why would you feel the need to find out if this is classed as disabled? Can he care for himself, provide for himself, cook for himself, wash himself?

Sorry I think your mistaken. I never said my husband isn't entitled to anything. He is able to claim dla due to his needs and disability.

wonderemx is correct she didn't say her hibby couldn't claim anything, she just said my hubby should think himself lucky that he is 90% blind in one eye and if anything were to ever happen to his good eye, he'd be blind.

I am 90% blind in my left eye and short sighted in the right eye now. I wear glasses but had not even given a thought to benefits for it. Yes, I do have to be a little more careful with the right eye as, god forbid, anything happened then I wouldn't be able to see sod all.

I would have thought that as your partner can see clearly with the one eye they wouldn't be entitled to anything. That said its well known as you get older your sight can be affected so maybe it's something you may have to consider a little later on.

You would be amazed how common it is to have one eye you don't see out of, if everyone could claim disability for it the country would be bankrupt.
