Credit report info??

Options
Just a quick question...

If you were applying for a mortgage, would the lender have access to any information that you couldn't see yourself on your credit report? ie - if you had defaults that had dropped off your report (because they were over 6 years old) and you were still paying them off, would the lender know that??

    No. They wouldn't.

A lender may however see something on a credit file which isn't on the one you have.

For example, if you have a Call Credit file and there's something on the Experian or Equifax file you don't know about.

It's why I recommend those who've had credit problems get all three of their statutory files before they kick off looking for a mortgage so they can sort out any incorrect entries.

Remember that certain banks now share information; Lloyds, Halifax, BOS, C & G, BMidshires and I think Sainsburys banks is still looked after by Halifax/BOS but not sure.

Nationwide and TMW and a couple of credit card providers who I do not recall..

Abbey have access to the old MBNA and A&L backbook

The list goes on and on just do your research to prevent any own goals...

Depends on the nature of the default. Possible that the lender has black marked you on their internal files.
