Have you looked around to see how many bike shops there are these days?

There are still bike shops here in Kent. The local one has a nice Ducati outside, and the missus clouts me every time I start drooling as we drive past.:D

Have you checked the emergency engine cut out switch? I never use mine and a joker at work switched mine off in the car park. Took me a good 15mins of head scratching and contemplating calling the RAC before i tried that approach instead. I thought the emergency switch would kill the starter so it wouldnt turn over at all. Apparently not, thats why it took me that long to work it out!

But how many? And how do the numbers compare with the number of bike shops that were around 20 years ago?

whatever happened to - "Support your local bike shop"?
I really second this. I have such a good relationship with mine that I just phone them and they help over the phone - and it's not because they want to sell me expensive repairs as they repaired the last fault (uh, bulb went in rear light) for free. And it only took them about 5 minutes, at a time convenient for me.
