BT did not bill me for some charges for 3 months

I have just checked my latest BT Bill online and found a strange note on it: "Due to a systems error, you were not billed for calls you made to 0844, 0845 and some 0870 numbers between 11th August and 7th November 2006. The costs of these calls will now appear on your next bill. We have now resolved the error and hope this hasn't caused you any inconvenience."

Has anyone else got this? My bill are always low (under £20), so I don't assume a huge bill coming my way, but seeing that it was BT's error, not mine, can they really come back to me some months after and say, our fault but you still have to pay up?

Slightly miffed
Reclaimed thanks to this site:

Yes, all BT customers will get the same message and yes, you still owe them the money..

It appears that it was actually a BT Wholesale fault (not BT Retail who will you) and affects virtually all telephone companies but AFAIK only BT Retail are 'explaining' what went wrong - the others are just adding the missing calls to their latest bills...

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
