Train travel - Solihull to Marylebone
Hi everyone,
I'm off to Wembley with a friend on March 31st to watch Saracens v Harlequins. We'll be taking the train down to Marylebone, from Solihull - 2 adults, of which one (me) has a 16-25 railcard.
I live in Worcester, but have noticed it's apparently 75p to park in Solihull for the day compared to £4 at Warwick Parkway (and a bit nearer too). What's more, the train journey is only 20 minutes longer to get to the capital than on the more expensive Virgin trains (which would be more hassle as I'd have to take a train to Birmingham New Street, having parked at Droitwich).
I've found on thetrainline that, for the both of us, it's £49.80 on a super off-peak return ticket that includes travel on the Underground.
I know it's a stupid question, but as there'll be two of us, will we each get an Underground ticket and will that be incorporated into our ticket? What's more, is that Zone 1-6 and unlimited travel for the whole day, or is it limited to one journey? Have searched the site and not had much luck. Don't want to get down to London and find our tickets get swallowed up or we have to buy any more travel tickets!
Many thanks in advance!

The Underground part will be incorporated in your ticket , you just stick your train ticket into the barriers. You'll probably get a one day "travelcard".
Zone 1 - 6 will be unlimited travel on underground zones 1 to 6.0 -
OP, do you actually want to go into central London?
If not, an adult Super Off Peak Return ticket from Solihull to Wembley Stadium Station is £25.00. With a railcard that drops to £16.50.
Therefore total for two of you could be only £41.50.
And that's probably a direct (no changes necessary) train from Solihull to Wembley Stadium Station. No Underground needed.
Oh, avoid the trainline's fees by booking with a train operating company... like maybe Southern Railway's website, or of course buy at the station.0 -

Id check with Chiltern as Birmingham starters dont stop at Wembley Stadium. But as its a match day they may stop some. If not its not harm in changing at High Wycombe or is it Banbury now?"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -

They do stop at times convenient to matches0 -
Hi folks,
Thanks a million for your replies - they've all been most helpful. The plan is to go into London for a bit first, so we will need the Travelcard. Will probably arrive into Marylebone, pop down to Central London for a look around and lunch and then take the tube back up the Bakerloo line to Wembley before travelling on the tube back to Marylebone post-match. I checked the Chiltern website and, unfortunately, that won't be one of the days that their trains will stop at Wembley.
With regards to purchase, I work in the centre of Worcester and so will probably just pop into the station here. On the price, I thought I'd ask, because it being only about £30 each door-to-door, when you factor in petrol and parking as well as the ticket AND Underground Travelcard, did seem rather too good to be true!
Thanks again for your help!0 -

Odd - coz I've just checked it and they do - from the 0724 to the 1305 from Solihull and from 1706 to 1837 from Wembley Stadium. I'm looking at it on screen now.
Still with your ticket it won't matter - it will cover you whatever you do - going back to Marylebone or getting a stopper out to High Wycombe and changing there.0 -
Well I did look at the journey planner before posting my information for the OP.Jeff_Bridges_hair wrote: »Id check with Chiltern as Birmingham starters dont stop at Wembley Stadium. But as its a match day they may stop some. If not its not harm in changing at High Wycombe or is it Banbury now?
And, as Dzug says, I can't understand why the OP can't see those trains either.0
