godaddy problems - test page wont show

ive been waiting since the end of last week for my domain derbytup.co.uk to work but i'm still getting a 'not ready' page even though ive uploaded a test index.htm. godaddy cs are so unhelpful...they just keep saying wait 24 hours and try again to add domain etc....well ive done all that and i dont know what to say to them or what to do. ive been doing server side for years and have never experienced this kind of problem. they say the nameservers are pointing correctly btw.

any help would be appreciated.

ok first thing is to check your DNS settings.

Log into godaddy and go to "MY Accounts" then click "launch" next to "domains"

Select your domain name. Check "Related Products"
    "Hosted" should read "hosted here"
If you see a "manage" link next to it click it...

    Then "launch"

if you get that far everything is OK, might be a problem with GoDaddy's servers ( they have had a few config problems lately)

The problem is dead simple. "GODADDY". Really awful CS as you've experienced, blocked the world over as a source of spam but cheap and nasty.

My advice - and you won't like it - get your money back and go elsewhere, but if you can't.......

Check that you uploaded your files - including an index.(htm|html|php) to the web root directory, and not the landing directory.

GoDaddy are terrible full stop, not just their customer service.

The obvious thing to do is check that the nameservers and DNS records are all correct as stated under your domain in your GoDaddy account.

Before I posted I checked the A record was pointing into their space - which it is (97.74.144.130). My IP Neighbours has it listed as a shared server......

    http://www.my-ip-neighbors.com/?domain=97.74.144.130

.... so it looks like the external DNS side of things is right so I'm inclined to think the virtual host declaration on the server is not set up to catch the domain and S0litaire has probably nailed why.

thats fine for the main domain its attached to iyswim....i cant see any distinct information for derbytup.co.uk due to their system of domain name adding (which confuses me) i cant even explain it here very well. i bought a domain then another domain and added it to the first one and then bought derbytup and added it to the first one again.....
