March 08 - it's up to you, it could be rolled out to renewals by then. The hassle is only temporarily for new 1st time passports, it WILL be rolled out to renewals for everyone, the only question is whether it will be 08 or 09. I wouldn't leave it till March 08 personally. I think you'd probably be OK up till November - and then that's a nice quick turnaround time to renew.0 -
There's going to be such an outcry about this with people missing holidays due to the whole stupid monstrosity that I have a real hard time imagining Labour imposing it on renewals too before the next election: they're hated enough already, they really don't want to give a large fraction of the British population even more reason to hate them.
Still, I'm glad I'm emigrating: I'll renew my passport ASAP once I'm gone, and I'll never need to do so again after I get foreign citizenship.0
