Laptop Help Please fo a friend

Hi i am posting this for a friend .She is wanting to buy a Laptop for her daughter mainly but also so she can use .Looking to buy one for £300 maximum but if any good seals less than £300 it would be greatly appreciated

The use of the laptop would be for general day to day browsing of the Internet ie Shopping , kids websites to play the games on them like Moshi Monsters etc (not online gaming though) , emails , ITV Player ,4on Demand , BBC I player and occassional downloading of mp3s purchased online for her daughter to use on itunes.

She is wanting to buy one New not Refurbished and was worried about getting one which would be good enough and fast enough to do this as she is clueless and im no expert either .Any help on lapptops and deals would be greatly apreciated , i have seen some myself around £300 but am interested to see what others people can come up with so i can let her know

Many Thanks

You won't beat this one on price for a new laptop and it's perfectly capable of doing all the things you've mentioned. It's £252 including delivery from Asda or £249 click and collect instore.

The Fujitsu has a relatively slow Pentium processor, and a fairly small hard drive. But absolutely any modern laptop will be adequate for the tasks that you outline. Refurbs are just aa good as new (often better), assuming you get the same warranty.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Having spoken to them tonight it is mostly the speed of the laptop processor that seems to be the concern as they are hoping it wont be slow in loading pages .The hard drive is not a necessity really as most the use is to be done by the 8 year old ,if any ideas on any better processors which are not too much more in cost id be truly grateful

That processor will be fine for just loading web pages, your internet connection is far more critical in that respect.
The point I was making is that a Pentium powered laptop is relatively slow by the standards of the current generation of dual core processors. Ideally you want an i3, but you will have to spend £350+ to get that.
And a newer model will probably have 3 or 4GB of RAM. W7 will run on 2GB, but it's the minimum.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
