Impulse buy - help now needed !!

Whilst in Argos earlier today buying some suitcases I saw an advert for a mp3 player at £9.99 so I thought yep, i'll have one of those.

Have got a Windows XP system and when I plug the mp3 player into the computer I merely get a message that it has detected a unknown devise or USB devise not recognised. Question have I done something wrong ??
The mp3 is a disgo lite. It does come with what appears to be a driver disc but this is the tiny 3 inch disc which doesnt seem to be compatible with my computer and the disc says it's a driver for Windows 98SE - which I haven't got. Any help would be much appreciated. I do have some music stored on my computer hard drive and I merely want to copy it onto my mp3 !!

  • Try downloading a newer driver from the Discgo website. You shouldn't really need it though as it's just a USB flash drive. Are you plugging it into a keyboard or hub, or directly into one of your machine's USB ports?

You should be able to download the drivers for your operating system here.

Have you tried running the software at all? Do you have service pack 2 installed, and in the device manager the usb is not marked? Also sometimes you can have an issue with usb ports. You can certainly try powering down the system and removing the power cable completely for ten mins or so, then repower the pc to clear it and then try the mp3 player.
:confused:I have nothing better to do!!!!

and if you'd read Martins weekly newsletter a month ago, you'd have seen that you could have SAVED even more money by purchasing the MP3 from Tesco at £4.97. Why don't you pop out and get one before they run out (our Tesco still has some) then return yours to Argos?.
