Money Transfer Query

This will probably sound an odd request. I bank online with Smile with no problems. This morning I transferred some money to my ISA and I noticed on the list of banks on my page, there was one with a sort code of 15 10 00 which I have since ascertained is HBOS together with an account number. Unfortunately, Smile do not say who the destination bank is, ( a point which I have suggested they do in a future update). This may be an old account which I cannot find, but before I ask them to delete it, I would like to find out which of my accounts it refers to. Is there any way I could find this out by quoting the sort code and account number please?

It's RBS ...... not HBOS?
http://www.swiftcodesinfo.com/sortcode/151000 (central clearing at a guess - so the London address is irrelevant)
Easiest way is to look at Bank statements / cards and find a match? If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
It could be a utility company, I seem to remember some of them having 151000 collection accounts. Or maybe a credit card issued by RBS or one of its affiliates such as Mint. But as Mike says, the only way really to find out is to go through your paperwork until you find something that matches - it might well be in the small print on the back rather than somewhere obvious.0

Have you googled the sort code and account number? Put the sort code in quotes as "15-10-00" and then the account number.
You might come up with something.0 -
Thanks guys. I found it by googling it. It appears that it was a one off payment, so I'll cancel it now. Cheers:beer:0
