How many is 'a lot'? You may well find that for any kind of volume printing it is cheaper to go to a specialist printer to litho/duplicate/bulk copy than to do it yourself. Home printers are really designed for mastering and home photos, and the odd few prints here or there...

Laser, but will not be cheap.

You could also find the start up cost actually makes the "cheapest PpP" printer far dearer than something that cost £30 to buy for example.
Bearing in mind a printer off the shelf gives false economies, as they all are shipped with short carts, including Laser. So your true Price per Print will only show accurate(ish) after you've replaced the supplied toner/carts.
You probably also want to consider speed too. With quality in colour it can vary, from terrible, to ok, but sloow. If you really are talking about a lot of colour printing, you might be better paying to have it done at a professional company.

If it's say only 200 for example, do you really need to buy a super efficient printer, and can you really wait for the time to print each paper.

ALSO ink runs, Laser doesn't, so poster wise, that should be considered too.

If you want a normal consumer inkjet printer, do a search on eBay for replacement printer cartridges, sort by price, then skim through the first few pages to see which cartridges are in plentiful cheap supply, then buy a printer that takes them.

Thanks - I need 3000 copies. A4 Paper at 1p per sheet. My photocopier will do this for 6p per sheet. My local printer wants 8p per sheet. I'm sure I can find a cheaper laser colour printer inc consumables.
