Transferring contacts from sim to phone

I have a HTC hero. I stupidly did not move my contacts to the phone before I ported to a different network sim only. how is the easiest way to get the numbers from the old sim onto my phone?

From the Home screen, tap the People icon.
Press Menu and select Import.
Select Contact type, Google or Phone (SIM).
The contacts will then be synced to your device.

m5rcc, that option does not work because my sim is not active. i ported the number to another network so it wont connect to a network to allow me to do that.

Use a USB SIM card reader to copy the data to your PC?

thanks macman i just ordered one from ebay. hopefully i will be able to do it once tit gets here

That should not matter. The contacts are on the SIM, not with the network.
