I always use a local optician, and go by the recommendation of friends and family. They do tend to work out more expensive, but if you mention that you are a student and on a low income (without begging!), ours always lower the price.
The benefit I find with a smaller opticians is that personal service, I have been going to the same place for years and they know me by name. If ever you need your glasses adjusting or tightening up, you know you can pop in and they'll do it there and then xGone ... or have I?0
