have a look at sites such as homeswapper, it allows council tenants to swap houses if you can find a willing party. Anyone looking to down size is generally very popular on such sites, as its usually people looking for bigger places0

Surely you can't exercise your right to buy and then let somebody else live in it?0 -
Im on Exmoor, just the 4 in 2 groups of 2. (semis) With the biggest garden ive ever seen!!!! The lady next door is 91!!!! She is pottering around in a HUGE 3 bed semi, stunning garden that would suit a family to the ground. House in little row opposite us (weird set up) had two old people in, one was 92 (sadly she passed last yr) and other is 90. They are POINT BLANK refusing to downsize. HA have offered them £1000 + £1000 per extra room they have to move into these lttle bungalows in nearest town. The HA have offered to move them, decorate and carpet them for free as well. To free up 2 stunning 3 bed houses. They still say no.
Our parish has started a campaign that only someone with local connection to our area gets one of these 2 homes when (god forbid) these elderly folk die.
We were super lucky to get our home, but think really something needs to be done about under-occupation,
PS Love my neighbours, have no problems with them etc, dont mind living near them bla bla. Just showing the point with council stock. xxThe feeling i got when i confirmed my place studying criminology at Exeter Uni was brilliant!!!!!
The pride my children told me they had in me was even better!!!!! # setting positive example to children is OUTSTANDING!!!! !:grouphug::grouphug::smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea0 -

Im entitled to a 4 bed house really.I love mine and will make do. But my housing officer said if they struggled to get rid of the one next door to me (sounds stupid but believe me they will, pure isolation) then they'd look into maing the 2 properties, one big one!!!! Dont think my BP could handle that stress!!!! xThe feeling i got when i confirmed my place studying criminology at Exeter Uni was brilliant!!!!!

Forgive me for jumping in with both feet without knowing circumstances...... but your comments, and others regarding council properties has really riled me !!!
Why should anyone be entitled to subsidised or free housing. Or inherit taxpayer provides properties... Or right to buy privileges ?
Why should I have to work my balls off to buy/rent a home, am I not "entitled" ?0
