Cahoot want salary details for fixed rate investment

I just started an application for a Cahoot 1 year fixed bond investment and the firstpage is asking me for my employment and salary details.
I am staggered – surely this information is totally irrelevantfor a savings account.
Any idea as to why they are asking for this information – itis mandatory.

So they can tailor the spam about their other products that you don't want to their advantage, because some saps will fall for it ???0

Never been asked for that sort of info on a savings account. Wouldn't give it if I was asked.0

Same as above, Ive never been asked for that info when applying for fixed rate bonds. Only ever been asked source of funding which is understandable for ML regs.
If it was me I would not give it to them, if they used the old chestnut 'knowing their customer', I would say OK forget it I don't want to use your services as they are too intrusive.Never let the perfume of the premium overpower the odour of the risk0 -
Or you could simply make something up0

I have been asked a few times, normally with smaller banks, I just put it down, not too bothered. I am a stubborn SOB so they will not get anything else out of me !0

Its the same application form they had for their current accounts, credit card accounts etc years ago, so I assume they just have the one application form.
I can't see how they would use it for spam etc as they aren't offering any other products, the information isn't shared with Santander and you can choose to opt-out of marketing.Current Debt
