Samsung American Fridge Freezer

Hello All

We have just moved 500 miles and our Samsung fridge freezer no longer works. We let it stand for a couple of days but neither the fridge or the freezer will cool down. it is about 6 years old and first ever problem.

Is it drastic? i have found a site on the internet that charges a fix fee everything included for £165.00

Any advise would be appreciated.

Than you:)

How was it transported, upright or laid down?

Try standing it upside down for half hour or so.

Yes that's it. Sometimes there is a lot of muck build up and the ppump seems to give up, turning it upside down for a while seems to cure it. I tried it myself sometimes ago and it worked. It saved us buying a new fridge for another 4 years.
    good luck.

    DO !NOT! DO THIS!

This advice applies to old absorption fridges, not modern vapour compression systems.

And any suggestion that there is 'dirt' in a hermetically sealed system is utter nonsense.

If it won't refrigerate there are only a few things it can be:
    Is the compressor running?
Does it run continuously without stopping for hours?
If you feel the condenser on the back, is it warm to hot?
Does the bigger pipe on the back have a ball of ice forming on it?
Is it a frost free unit, are the internal fans running?
Is it sited somewhere at room temperature?

There is a known prob,em with Samsung F/F. If you've never had the repair done, phone samsung and they will do the modification free of charge, even on a fridge out of warranty.
