I really cant see why people waste their time on trivialities like this.
!!!!!! dont you have anything better to do than spend your time whining about wanting a couple of quid back.

    Tolet issue - sorted.

Seatbelt, did you mention it to the driver.

    Move on.

I really can't see why people waste their time telling other people that they're concerned about 'trivialities'. It's a bit insulting TBH. If you think it's trivial, don't waste your time replying. The return tickets were £54.50, including the 50p booking fee.

!!!!!! don't you have anything better to do than belittle random strangers on internet forums?

To pretty much everyone else, thanks for the replies. I hadn't spotted that they didn't guarantee toilets. If that's the case, and that they're apparently often not working and their seatbelts also often don't work, I won't be using them again. I think I'll just write them a letter of complaint and leave it at that.

If you didn't mention to the driver that the seatbelt wasn't working at the time you don't have much recourse, while Megabus do regular inspections to pickup issues like that, you can't expect the failure of a device just before a inspection.

I've seen a bus where the wheelchair ramp didn't work, the manager ordered a Taxi from the bus station to Aberdeen (quite a while away) because they couldn't deliver on their part of the contract. If the bus was full and you mentioned it to the driver that the seatbelt was faulty and there was no other seats I suspect alternative travel would of been arranged.

Write to them and see. You probably don't have any right to a refund, but they might give you something as goodwill.

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
