  • my brother had all his dental work done in Poland and raves about it. He saved over £400 and that included the cost of the holiday too. he said the clinics are really clean, hygenic and the dentists spoke fluent english. I would do your research beforehand and makse sure you know what qualifications, etc.. you are looking for.

It could save you a lot of money and you could get a holiday too! lol

I was thinking about this for myself (varicose veins) but I spoke to my Doctor and she put up a fair old defence on the basis that if anything should go wrong whilst you are recovering or if you need additional treatment, you will have to rely on the NHS.You will not have the aftercare that you get here , and any problems that you have pre op may not always be dealt with. At this stage I would rather wait on the list until I can get them done here .

Did you see Dragon's Den on Wednesday?

There was an Indian guy wanting money to set up his medical tourism business shipping people out to India.

One of his boasts was that he had a surgeon who could do 45 (Yes 45) hip replacements a day!!!!!!!

He was pushing this as a plus!

He was swiftly shown the door.

£1150 is not dear when you consider the alternatives if things go wrong.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
  • thanks as my GP has given me the number of this clinic and information i am going to check it out, he is polish and used to work there, he has been with our surgery for 2 years and i think he is great,

have checked it all out on the net and seems good, just waiting to hear back from them

  • I also think that any travel insurance will be invalidated if you are going to a foreign country specifically for medical treatment.

I don't think it will be invalidated; you must declare the reason for travel and you won't be covered for anything related to the complaint you are going to be treated for.
  • So you go abroad for treatment something goes wrong and you need to be repatriated to UK you are not covered so what's the point?
