Seconding the vote for cocoa — cheap and cheerful! It's a tad bitter though so be sure to use plenty of sugar :]
I must admit I do like a nice mug of Horlicks, though I can't often justify spending that much

I've not found any Options-substitutes (has to be low cal for me) that I like yet, so tend get Options from Lidl when it's on offer at £1.50. Not sure how often they do it at that price any more since I don't get over there much. Otherwise either the pound shops or normal supermarket £2 offers.
Would love to hear of alternatives that are cheaper, 40 cals a mug and don't taste dreadful...0 -

I like the bitterness of dark chocolate so only add a teeny amount of sugar when I do make cocoa, its the bitterness lacking in drinking chocolate that I'm not keen on, once I made a milkshake using cocoa (I make one in the blender with loads of ice cubes, ice cold milk, vanilla extract and a bit of sugar or golden syrup, much nicer than using nesquik or crusha) and it tasted a bit bland when I finished but couldn't put my finger on it, then I realised I'd added no sugar-considering this, it didn't taste bad at all just a bit less flavourful.0 -
I never put sugar in cocoa - there's more than enough in the milk.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.

I like Cadbury's Highlights (40 cals a cup) which is 99p a jar in Home Bargains. You can also buy boxes of 6 sachets there for the same price, but I don't bother with that as you get around 10 servings in the jar!0

            Oooh thank you all.
Roobers, I used to get Options from B&M too but now don't have one local to me
I've tried cocoa before but just can't get it right. My mum makes a lovely cup of it but mine end up either too bland or too bitter.
I used to have Sainsburys basics ages ago, must be about 2 years and I'm sure I liked it but I used to like Aldi's and they changed it
I'll defo give it a go as I've gotta pop down there today.
I'll look out for the highlights when I'm next by a home bargains.
Reverbe, how strange! I wonder if there was a product recall due to mispricing or due to contamination... Hmm!0
